Objective
Clear all seven columns by removing cards that are one rank above or below the waste pile top.
Setup
Seven columns of 5 face-up cards (35 cards). The remaining 17 cards are in the stock.
Gameplay
- Removal: Remove the top card of any column if it is ±1 rank from the waste top. Ace and King do not wrap.
- Stock: Deal a card from the stock when no moves are available.
- Columns: Only the top card of each column is playable. Focus on clearing all columns.
How to Win
Golf Solitaire aims to clear the tableau by moving cards to the waste. You may move a card one higher or one lower than the top of the waste pile (wraparound: King–Ace–2). Only uncovered cards can be moved. Expose buried cards by removing cards on top of them. Create sequences that let you chain moves. Sometimes a "bad" move (e.g., playing a 5 when a 6 would help later) is necessary to unblock the board. The stock adds one card to the waste when no tableau move is possible. Track what you need. If many 7s are buried, you’ll need 6s and 8s to reach them. Not every game is winnable. Minimize dead ends by keeping options open—avoid moves that block multiple cards unless you have no choice.
